Nova Fides was established in 1957. Giuliano Calabresi, along with a group of partners, began with just one part of the process of wool production, that of fulling, in the heart of the Prato textile district. These were the boom years, and Nova Fides rode the wave to quickly expand its activity, soon becoming a textile company that carries out every phase of production, from the raw material to the finished product, and it had a lot of success in international markets.

From the very start, amongst companies in Prato, Nova Fides has been particularly specialized in textile recycling. This skill, that is truly part of the company’s founding values, has grown over the years.

At the end of the 1960s, Nova Fides built a new factory in Montemurlo, an industrial suburb of the Tuscan town of Prato that is now dense with other textile companies, but at the time, Nova Fides was one of the first adventurers to set up here. The original buildings still today house the company headquarters, with commercial offices and productive areas.

Giuliano Calabresi unfortunately passed away in the early 1990s, and his sons Paolo and Claudio took over the family company. Both had degrees in economics and had begun careers in other areas, but they took up the challenge of managing Nova Fides, dividing the tasks as such: Paolo manages the commercial aspects and Claudio the administrative and financial ones. Together, they were able to carry on the family’s textile tradition, adopting a business model that is both contemporary and sustainable, both from an environmental and social point of view.
